Living Rules

By Estelle Goulet

Not for me the rich man’s dreams
That craves strong drink and party
And bawdy living, far from clean
That soil both mind and body
But rather blessed with simple joys
Far from the cacophony of noise
Where talents spring like golden toys
To serve and gladden daily toils

I like to see the larks at play
And stroll through gardens bright and gay
Attuned to night winds,
What they say
To solve the riddles of each day
Clear thought from quiet solitude
Relaxed and kindly attitudes

All come from good clean living rules
These can be man’s most priceless tools
So let me work with good intent
To end each day with rules unbent
That brings the purpose and the strength
To fill my life with good intent!
