Concerning a Fall Evening with LF

By Samuel Jean Baptiste

We walked, and talked,

Walked and talked,

Underneath the grapefruit sky

and wondered why, how, from

Whence came such beautiful

Leaves, fallen,

Under a forlorn tree.

Those leaves you said, are a

Colorfully burning deep

Orange-red.

I called it sublime,

While my eye caught yours,

And yours caught mine.

And we walked in beauty,

Past that forlorn tree,

Upon burning beds of orange-red

Underneath that grapefruit sky.
